Creating Your First Audio Asset

Step 1: Open the Audio Creator

  1. In Unity, go to Tools → USM → Audio Creator

  2. This opens the Audio Creator window where you can create new sound assets

Step 2: Create a Sound Effect (SFX)

  1. Make sure you're on the "SFX Creator" tab

  2. Fill in the basic information:

    • SFX Name: Enter "JumpSound" (this will be the name you use in code)

    • Audio Clip: Click the circle button and select an audio file from your project

  3. Adjust the settings (optional):

    • Volume: 1.0 (full volume)

    • Pitch: 1.0 (normal speed)

    • Loop: Leave unchecked (for one-shot sounds)

    • Spatial Blend: 0.0 (2D sound)

  4. Click "Create SFX Asset"

Checking Your Audio in the Library

Step 3: View Your Created Audio

  1. Go to Tools → USM → Audio Library

  1. You'll see your newly created "JumpSound" in the list

  2. Click the foldout arrow next to your sound to see all its settings

  3. You can:

    • Click "Play" to preview the sound

    • Click "Edit" to modify the settings

    • Click "Stop" to stop playback

Step 4: Verify Audio Settings

In the Audio Library, you can see and edit:

  • Audio Clip: The sound file being used

  • Volume: How loud the sound plays

  • Pitch: The playback speed

  • Loop: Whether the sound repeats

Editing Your Audio Clip

Step 5: Edit the Audio File

  1. In your Project window, find the audio file you used

  2. Right-click on the audio file

  1. Select "Open in Audio Editor"

  2. This opens the Audio Clip Editor window

Step 6: Trim the Audio (Optional)

  1. In the Audio Clip Editor, you'll see the waveform of your sound

  2. Drag the orange handles at the start and end to trim the audio

  3. Use the play button to preview your changes

  4. Adjust fade in/out if needed using the sliders

Step 7: Save Your Edits

  1. Click "Save Audio File" (Ctrl+S)

  2. Confirm you want to apply the changes

  3. The original audio file is now updated with your edits
